Attach File Uploads to Tasks

Purpose: Explain how to configure a form with File Upload fields so that uploaded files are automatically attached to the created Asana task. This feature is available in the Premium version of the plugin.

1. When to Use This Feature #

Use this when form submissions include documents, images, or other files that need to be accessible directly from the Asana task. Examples:

  • Applicants upload resumes, which get attached to review tasks.
  • Customers upload invoices, contracts, or proofs.
  • Teams upload screenshots or media for creative requests.

2. How It Works #

  1. Add one or more File Upload fields to your Gravity Form.
  2. In your Asana feed settings, find the Attachments section (this section only appears if your form contains a File Upload field).
  3. Check the box for Attach uploaded files to task.
  4. When the feed runs, any files uploaded to the form will be automatically attached to the created Asana task.

3. Tips & Best Practices #

  • Only enable file uploads on feeds where you truly need them, to avoid cluttering tasks.
  • Large files may take longer to upload—test with your expected file types.
  • Clearly label File Upload fields on your form so users know what to submit.
  • For security, restrict allowed file types to only those necessary for your workflow.

4. Premium Feature #

Attaching files to tasks is a Premium-only feature.
