This document outlines the planned features and future development of the GravityOps Forum plugin.

Upcoming Features #

1. Enhanced Notifications #

• Mention Notifications: Get notified when someone mentions your username in a forum post.

2. User Profile Improvements #

• Follow User: Get notified when a specific user starts a new topic or posts a reply.
• Custom Avatars: Support for user-uploaded avatars that are independent of Gravatar.
• Activity History: Move history to a dedicated “My Activity” section.

3. Moderation Tools #

• Report Post: Allow users to flag inappropriate content for moderator review.
• Moderator Dashboard: A centralized administrative view for managing flagged content across all boards.
• Edit Additional Fields Allow moderators to edit the values of additional fields.

4. Design & UX #

• AJAX Submissions: Implement AJAX-based posting (plus updating relevant UI) for a faster, smoother experience without full page reloads.
• Mobile Responsiveness: Continued refinement of the default templates for mobile and tablet devices.
• CSS Customization: Enhance the customization options for forum styles, including the ability to override default CSS rules. Include GUI customization.
• Dark Mode: Add a dark mode option for improved readability in low-light environments.
• Share Buttons: Add social media sharing buttons to easily share forum posts on popular platforms.
• Mark As Read: Allow users to mark threads as read/unread to keep track of new content and discussions.
• Rate Content: Implement a rating system for posts and replies, allowing users to upvote/downvote or rate content quality.
• Search Functionality: Implement a robust search feature that allows users to find specific posts, threads, or users by keywords, tags, or content.
• show when edited: Display a timestamp or icon to indicate when a post or reply was last edited.
• star/favorite topics: Allow users to mark topics as favorites to easily access them later.
• contact form: Provide a dedicated contact form for users to submit inquiries, feedback, or report issues.

Already Available #

• Front-end Editing: Users can update profile information from the forum profile page.
• Additional Fields Display: Topic and reply assignments can expose additional mapped fields in front-end views.
