Roadmap

Disclaimer: items are listed in no particular order. Some have higher priority than others. Several are actively in development, while others remain under consideration and may change.

If you have thoughts about these items — or want to suggest something else — please get in touch. User feedback is one of the most important ways we prioritise work.

When and Where Snippets Run #

  • Reusable conditions — build a set of rules once, combining them with AND and OR, and apply it to as many snippets as you like.
  • More conditions — run a snippet only for certain user roles, for logged-in or logged-out visitors, on mobile or desktop, when a URL contains a query parameter, or on pages that show a particular Gravity Forms form. Conditions will work the same way for PHP, JavaScript, CSS and HTML snippets.
  • Scheduling — switch a snippet on and off automatically between dates and times, for promotions, seasonal changes and maintenance windows.
  • AJAX and REST options — choose whether Admin only snippets also run on admin AJAX requests, and whether Frontend only snippets also run on REST API requests, to match how snippets behaved in other plugins.

Configuration #

  • Typed settings — show each configuration value as the right kind of field: number boxes with limits, checkboxes for on/off values, validated email and URL fields, and a colour picker.
  • Gravity Forms pickers — choose forms, fields and feeds from a list instead of typing their IDs.
  • Gravity Forms templates — start common Gravity Forms customizations from a guided template rather than an empty editor.
  • Settings for HTML snippets — configuration values for HTML snippets, as PHP, JavaScript and CSS snippets have today.

Organization and Teams #

  • Snippet bundles — group related snippets so they can be activated, updated and exported together.
  • Permissions — let selected roles view or edit snippets without giving them full administrator access.
  • Snippet locking — lock a snippet so it cannot be edited or deactivated by mistake.
  • Activity log — see who created, changed, activated, restored or synced each snippet, and when.

GitHub and Snippet Libraries #

  • GravityOps snippet library — a curated, maintained library of Gravity Forms snippets you can add to your site and keep up to date.
  • Upstream history — browse a GitHub snippet’s full version history from the repository, including versions that were never installed on your site.
  • Publish to GitHub — send a snippet you wrote on your site to one of your repositories.

Safety and Monitoring #

  • Safe testing — try a new snippet, or a change to a running one, on your own account only before it goes live for everyone.
  • Alerts — get an email, Slack message or webhook when a snippet is disabled after an error, an update is waiting for review, or a sync fails.
  • Insights dashboard — one screen showing load times, recent errors and pending updates across all your snippets.
  • Stricter JavaScript checking — catch JavaScript syntax errors with exact line numbers before a snippet is saved.

Tools and Performance #

  • Command-line tools — list, activate, deactivate, sync and export snippets with WP-CLI.
  • More importers — bring snippets across from WPCode, Header Footer Code Manager and FluentSnippets, as you can from Code Snippets today.
  • Minified output — serve smaller JavaScript and CSS files automatically.
  • Faster snippet loading — use your site’s object cache, where one is available, to cut database queries on busy sites.
  • Network snippets — on multisite networks, manage a snippet once and run it across every site.
  • Elementor widget — place HTML snippets in Elementor layouts, as the HTML Snippet block does in the block editor.

This roadmap will evolve as we release new capabilities and gather feedback. Stay tuned for updates.
