Settings Reference

The Settings tab of the Code Snippet Manager page holds plugin-wide options and diagnostics.

Options #

Setting Default What it does
Default auto-update for new collections Off Pre-checks Auto Update when you add a GitHub collection. Warning-severity updates always require manual review regardless of this setting. Premium and Agency only.
Sync log retention (days) 90 Sync Log entries older than this are deleted by a daily background job. Minimum 1.
Eval fallback mode Off Whether PHP snippets may run through eval() when a generated file cannot be used. See Eval Fallback Mode.
OPcache invalidation Auto Clears PHP’s OPcache for a snippet’s generated file whenever the file is rewritten, so the new code takes effect immediately. Auto invalidates when OPcache is available, Force does the same and adds a Sync Log warning when OPcache is running but refuses to clear the file (for example because of opcache.restrict_api), and Off never invalidates (changes may take effect only after OPcache expires).
Performance tracking Off Times PHP snippets as they load and shows their load time on the snippets list and edit screen. See Load Time Tracking.

Runtime diagnostics #

Read-only information for troubleshooting: the PHP version, whether opcache_invalidate is available and OPcache is enabled, whether generated files are writable (checked when the plugin is activated — see Filesystem Write Errors), and how many PHP, JavaScript, and CSS snippets are active.

The Settings tab also shows a reminder about Nginx configuration, and a notice when a security scanner plugin is active (see Security Scanner Conflicts).

Recovery: Safe Mode #

Click Reveal safe-mode URL to get a link that opens the snippet list without running PHP snippets. Safe mode then stays on in that browser for an hour, or until you exit it. See Safe Mode.

Who can manage snippets #

Every Code Snippet Manager screen and action requires the gform_full_access capability when Gravity Forms is active, or manage_options when it is not. GOCSM’s admin notices are shown only to users with that access.

Sync Log #

The Sync Log tab records activations, errors, syncs, and updates. Filter it by collection, snippet, severity (Info, Warning, Error), and date range. Entries are shown 50 per page.

Admin notices #

GOCSM may show these notices across the admin:

  • A snippet was disabled after an error.
  • GOCSM could not load snippets on a recent request.
  • Snippets have pending updates (Premium and Agency).
  • A collection is unhealthy (Premium and Agency).
  • Snippets are running via eval fallback.
  • Generated files cannot be written.
  • Snippet saved — function prefix warnings: after saving a custom PHP snippet, GOCSM lists functions it declares without a distinctive prefix. Unprefixed names can collide with another plugin’s functions and cause a fatal error, so consider renaming them.
  • On GOCSM pages, a reminder that the safe-mode URL is on the Settings tab.

Multisite #

Network activation sets GOCSM up on every site in the network. Each site has its own snippets, collections, settings, and generated files.

Uninstalling #

Deleting the plugin from the Plugins screen removes everything GOCSM stored: its database tables (snippets, configuration values, collections, tags, and the Sync Log), its options and temporary data, and the generated files in wp-content/uploads/gocsm/. Export anything you want to keep before deleting the plugin.
