Performance Considerations

In most cases, feeds run quickly and tasks are created without delay. However, there are a few things to keep in mind for larger or more complex setups.

Large Projects and Custom Fields #

  • The larger the workspace — more projects, users, sections, custom fields, etc. — the longer the feed settings page will take to load.
  • For this reason, the page does not show sections and custom fields by default, and you must click the appropriate checkbox to display them.
  • This does not block task creation, but it can make the feed settings page slower to open or refresh.

Current Behavior #

  • Every time you open the feed settings page, the plugin fetches the latest list of projects, tags, and users from Asana. Sections and custom fields are optional: they are only loaded if you have a premium license and check the box to display them.
  • There is no caching layer yet, so larger datasets may cause a noticeable delay.

On the Roadmap #

  • Caching: A caching layer is planned so that large lists (projects, fields, etc.) don’t need to be re-fetched on every page load.
  • This will improve performance for users working in big Asana workspaces.

What You Can Do Now #

  • Limit the connected account’s access to only the projects and fields you actually need.
  • If possible, use a dedicated Asana user with narrower access to reduce the amount of data pulled.
  • Be patient when working with very large datasets — task creation itself is rarely impacted, only the admin interface may feel slower.
