Create Your First Feed (5-Minute Quickstart)

Note: You must have already connected your Asana account via OAuth. If you haven’t, please see the previous doc.

Let’s get your first workflow going—here’s how to set up a basic feed on any form in under five minutes:


Step-by-Step Instructions #

  1. Go to Forms → Forms in the WordPress admin dashboard and open the form you want to connect with Asana.
  2. Click Settings → Asana Integration.
  3. Hit Add New to create a feed.
  4. Name your feed—for example: “New Task from Contact Form”.
  5. Select a Trigger (e.g., Form is Submitted).
  6. Configure the following task settings:
    • Task Name: Use merge tags like {Name:15}, {form_title}, etc.
    • Assignees: Pick one or more users (a unique task is created for each selected assignee).
    • Due Date: Choose from fixed, relative, mapped-from-field, or none.
    • Project: Assign it to one or more projects and (premium) optional sections/custom fields may be shown if enabled.
    • Description: Use rich text with merge tags (ghat formatting limitations—see tooltip).
  7. Click Save Feed.
  8. Test for success: Submit the form and confirm that the task appears in Asana with the correct details.

Quick Tips #

  • Use multiple feeds per form when you need to route to different projects or users.
  • Apply Conditional Logic to control when feeds fire—great for segmented task routing.

What You Should See #

  • A new feed appears for your form with the name you provided.
  • After submitting the form:
    • An Asana task is generated.
    • It follows your settings: name, assignee(s), due date, project, and description.
