Pretty forum URLs depend on WordPress rewrite rules, so 404s usually mean the rules are stale or something else claims the slug.
Check these in order
- Flush the rules. Settings → Permalinks → Save Changes, or Save Configuration in the forum settings.
- Permalinks. Plain permalinks do not support pretty forum URLs. Use Post name, or turn off custom rewrite rules and use the shortcodes on pages.
- Slug conflicts. A page, post or category with the same slug as your forum base, including one in the trash, will collide.
- Shortcode mode. With rewrites off, the [gofrm_index] shortcode must be on a published page.
